Arden Wood adheres to the teachings of the pastor of Christian Science: The Holy Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. The Manual of the Mother Church provides for Christian Science nurses, and Arden Wood supports the activity of these nurses. We accept nursing patients who are active students of Christian Science and who rely solely on spiritual healing as taught in Christian Science.
Arden Wood is fully accredited by The Commission for Accreditation of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities, Inc., and strives to maintain highest standards of Christian Science nursing care and training.

Arden Wood's history is rich, filled with over 75 years of healing and
regeneration. It all began in 1926, when The First Church of Christ,
Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, The Mother Church, selected the current
site in San Francisco for the West Coast Christian Science nursing facility.
Construction began in 1929, and the Christian Science Benevolent Association
on the Pacific Coast opened in May of 1930. In 1973, when The Mother
Church decided that a local board of trustees and management team would
be appropriate, the facility began operating as a private, nonprofit
organization. It then became known as the Arden Wood Benevolent Association,
and later as Arden Wood, Inc. as it is now known.
