What does the Christian Science Visiting nurse do?

We provide Christian Science nursing care in the home, office, school, or anywhere there is a need in the community.  This care is provided on a temporary hourly basis of usually two hours or less to individuals radically relying on Christian Science and who are actively working for healing.

Do I need a Christian Science practitioner?

Yes. The ongoing daily support of a Christian Science practitioner listed in The Christian Science Journal is required for the nurse to provide care.

What hours does the service operate?

The service operates 24 hours a day / 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Regular visits are normally made between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with sudden care calls being answered around the clock.

How do I get in touch with the Christian Science visiting nurse?

Call (415) 740-0460. The Christian Science visiting nurse carries a cell phone at all times, so if you reach an answering machine, please leave a message and the nurse should return your call promptly.

What is the charge for the service?

There is no charge for the first visit.  Regular follow-up visits, up to 1 hour, will be billed the $50.00 minimum charge.
 

After the 1st hour of a visit, care is billed in 15 minute increments, for example 1¼ hr. = $62.50, 1½ hr. = $75, 2 hr. = $100.  As a general rule, the CSVN cannot stay more than 2 hours.
 

There is no charge for the first hour of round-trip travel time.  Additional travel time is billed at a rate of $25.00 per hour. Travel time will be determined by the distance from Arden Wood. 
 

Nursing supplies will be billed as needed.  The Arden Wood Christian Science Visiting Nurse Service sends bills twice a month.
 

Financial assistance is available from Arden Wood as well as other funding resources.  Some insurance policies include home nursing care and our Business Office can assist with this process.  Medicare does not pay for the cost of Christian Science nursing in the home.

What area does the service cover?

The Christian Science Visiting Nurse Service serves the city of San Francisco and all nearby areas.  The primary geographic area covered includes San Francisco and the Peninsula; Marin County north to Santa Rosa; the East Bay including Vacaville, Walnut Creek, and Milpitas; and as far south as the Monterey Peninsula.  The CSVNS is not strictly limited to this area.  For questions regarding service in your area, please call (415) 740-0460.  We would like to help if possible.
