WHAT'S NEW - PROPERTY UPDATES
Arden Wood Estates moving forward at 15th Avenue and Wawona Street

Arden Wood has sold a small portion of its property for the development of seven beautiful new homes (slated for completion in late 2008 or early 2009). The comfortable, three-level homes will include a modern approach to space and light, and in many ways will incorporate sustainable design and green features. A 25-foot wide greenway between the curbside and the front yards will allow for keeping most of the large trees along 15th Avenue, and still give a park-like feel to the entire block.  In addition, special landscaping and fencing at the rear of the properties will increase the park-like setting between Arden Wood and these properties.

Construction is planned to begin after city and public meetings are completed, in the Spring of 2008.  If you would like to learn more about these lovely homes, please call Nelson Development at (415) 923-9868.

19th Avenue Portion of Arden Wood property: Development Planned

After a lengthy selection process and many site surveys and studies, the option to develop a piece of Arden Wood’s property along 19th Avenue has been established with Republic Urban Properties.   The project would redevelop a 4.6-acre portion located west and downhill of Arden Wood’s main building.  The remaining 7-acre parcel would contain the main building (the French chateau-like landmark structure) and surrounding landscaping and would not be affected by the project.  The proposed project would concentrate development in moderate density buildings in order to preserve the forested character of the project site.

This development is expected to take a few years; specific plans for the buildings and site layout will be announced as decisions are made.  This move has several useful results: it will add much-needed housing to this part of San Francisco, will significantly reduce maintenance costs to Arden Wood, and eventually provide some additional funds for Arden Wood’s continuing operation.
